A multiple Emmy and Writers Guild Award winner, Alan’s work spans television, film, theater, and literature. He has collaborated on Broadway hits, written eleven books—including the Thurber Prize-winning The Other Shulman—and co-wrote screenplays for films like Dragnet, North, and The Story of Us. His humor has appeared in The New Yorker, Esquire, The New York Times, and more.

Beyond comedy, Alan speaks to the healing power of laughter, inspired by his close friendship with Gilda Radner during her battle with cancer. He has appeared in documentaries such as Love, Gilda and The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Writers Guild of America East. His memoir Laugh Lines: My Life Helping Funny People Be Funnier was recently published, and his latest film project, Here Today, co-written with Billy Crystal, is now streaming on Amazon Prime and AppleTV+.
