Brendan Ahern

Brendan Ahern is Chief Investment Officer at KraneShares, which he joined in 2013. He leads the firm’s research and education efforts, with a primary focus on China’s capital markets and Asia’s technological trends.

Brendan previously spent more than a decade at Barclays Global Investors, later BlackRock, joining in 2001 during the rollout of the iShares ETF business. His career has coincided with the rapid expansion of the ETF industry, giving him deep knowledge of index methodologies and the broader ETF landscape.

Brendan is a frequent visitor to Asia, where he maintains a robust local research network that spans investment banks, brokers, and regional and boutique research firms. He authors a daily update, China Last Night (www.chinalastnight.com), and regularly appears on CNBC, Fox Business, and Bloomberg to discuss global technology themes and China’s markets.

Brendan graduated from the College of the Holy Cross and holds a Master of Science in Financial Analysis from the University of San Francisco.
