Senior Quantitative Analyst, Stansberry Research

Matthew Poltorak

Matthew Poltorak joined Stansberry Research in 2017 as a software engineering intern, returning every summer and winter break until he graduated and came on full time in 2020. Today he is a Senior Quantitative Analyst, building the quantitative, AI, and machine-learning systems behind some of Stansberry's research.

He studied at Stevens Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Finance with a minor in computer science — then a Master of Science in Financial Analytics, which he completed while already working full time at Stansberry.

In 2018, while still an undergraduate, Matthew was the founding engineer of MantX AI, an AI-powered security camera startup — years before the current wave of AI. He designed the custom hardware and built the entire software stack himself: a real-time computer-vision pipeline, the cloud architecture behind it, and the iOS app.

At Stansberry he helped create the Stansberry Score, the multi-factor rating that grades a company on capital efficiency, financials, valuation, and momentum. He developed the algorithms behind The Quant Portfolio and The N.E.W. System. And he architected StansberryGPT, the AI-powered screener that lets you search the whole market simply by typing a question in plain English.
